Mopitus Reflects
on the War on Swears
My goodness! This skit has the potential to be one of the most least-played skit on the radio! Yeah...although the idea behind this skit is great, and it's carried out terrifically, I must say that it's too bad this skit will never get on the air. Too much swearing...kind of ironic, considering it's a PSA against swearing. Of course, that's half the joke. Well, maybe a third of it.

This is another one of the skits recorded in January by the quintet of myself, Walter, Sekshun, Wilkh, and Splatt. Except I don't think any of Splatt's pieces made it into this one...

I love how bluntly this one starts out...I mean after the PSA intro. It almost sounds like an error when you first hear it. I find it fun that the voiceover accuses "sketch comedy groups" as part of the swearing problem. Beacause I don't think our group has ever used a swear. Ever.

We had a huge laugh with Wilkh's performance. Simply amazing! He just captured that just-got-a-cavity-because-I-just-called-my-mom-a-slutty-ho-bag-bitch-ho feeling. We sat there all night and played that little sound clip over and over.

The idea for this skit actually developed around the concept of "gateway swears" that led to further, more offensive swears. Although funny, that's a pretty thin premise around which to develop an entire skit, so I'm glad I finally worked in the whole "War on Swears"/"Swearing is Addictive" idea.

I chose "Mr. Brownstone" as the background music for a very specific reason. See if you can figure out what it is!

Happy hunting!
